Youth Leadership Summit
Cherryland Electric Cooperative sponsors up to four students from local high schools to attend a Youth Leadership Summit at Spring Hill Camp in Evart. The sponsored students are joined by 30-40 students also served by electric cooperatives from around the state.
This year's YLS is scheduled for April 24th-26th. Participants will explore diverse careers in energy, learn how to respond in an emergency situation, test decision making skills as an elected official, and ask a university representative what to expect as they prepare for life after high school. The program also offers a number of team building activities including a high ropes challenge. There is also free time for recreational activities such as volleyball, basketball, relaxing in the game room, swimming in the indoor pool and making new friends.
High school students who are 16 or 17 by June 2013 and whose parent(s)/guardian(s) are members of Cherryland Electric Cooperative may apply by submitting an application (see links below). Applications must be submitted by March 22, 2013. For more information about the Youth Leadership Summit, call Amanda at (231) 486-9254 or email her at email@example.com. You can also check out the YLS website at www.miyls.com.
Students who attend the Michigan Youth Leadership Summit program automatically qualify for consideration to represent Cherryland Electric Cooperative at the national Rural Youth Tour in Washington, D.C. June 15-20, 2013.
